Dallas International School Kicks Off Community Spirit Campaign in Efforts to Bring Unity in Unprecedented Times
Students join trail of putting rainbows in windows to spread joy and sharing online
educational resources for Dallas families practicing social distancing
April 06, 2020: Dallas International School (DIS), an exclusive private international school in
Dallas offering a rigorous, premiere and unique multi-lingual and multi-cultural educational
experience, has officially launched its Community Spirit campaign in efforts to bring a sense of
togetherness and unity between students, parents and teachers during the global crisis of the
Coronavirus pandemic.
As schools are being closed across the country, many students and teachers are having to
make a quick transition from in class to virtual class learning. This has inevitably placed
enormous pressure and anxiety on families as they adapt to a new routine to ensure that their
child continues to learn in a distance learning environment.
The DIS Community Spirit campaign responds to the challenges that families are currently
facing, engaging students in a series of creative art projects as a way of keeping up spirits,
bringing unity while spreading hope and happiness. From placing rainbows in windows that
students have drawn, virtual storytelling to performing live puppet shows, Dallas International
School is committed to helping families in the Dallas community, as it recognizes the need to
provide support in as many ways that it can as a premiere educational institute.
Ms. Catherine Lévy, Head of School at Dallas International School said: “We pride ourselves on
having a close-knit international community at Dallas International School that make up the
fabric of its identity.” She added: “By creating a unique culture where families support one
another, we can also be creative in how we boost morale so that together, we are able to extend
this mind set further out to the wider community. Promoting community spirit at a time of
uncertainty especially when it is difficult to see each other in person is more important than ever
before.”
Dallas International School’s Rainbow Trail project follows a global trend that is thought to have
started in Italy when the country announced its shelter-at-home order a few weeks ago. The
project has since taken off in Spain, the United Kingdom and Canada.
Ms. Lévy added: “Seeing positive messages written in multiple languages beside the rainbows
of students has been particularly compelling as it makes me realize how much they want to
engage in world challenges and feel they are leading meaningful lives. It makes me proud to
see that our mission at Dallas International School is being fulfilled.”
Dallas International School has also rolled out a series of virtual storytelling videos in French,
titled: ‘Story time with Mrs. Melanie’ giving early year students the chance to listen and follow
popular French stories along with classic French nursery rhymes performed as puppet shows.
Virtual storytelling videos are available on Dallas International School’s social media platforms
and can be found here.
Dallas International School is a fully bilingual French and English education that also includes a
third language in Spanish, Mandarin and German.
