Want to feel like a friend to the stars and get up close and personal, then head into New York City to the heart of Times Square get yourself to Madame Tussauds.
We just had the pleasure of spending the afternoon at Madame Tussauds recently and had a blast. Once you’ve got your tickets you head up a special elevator where the operator lets you know you are about to arrive at a mega star studded Hollywood party. She encouraged us to get up close and personal with the stars, to take plenty of pictures and enjoy the party.
When the elevators opened, there were super stars galore, all ready to pose for pictures with their favorite fans as well as the smell of fresh popcorn so you could nosh at the party. Once we finished buying some hot popcorn, we were ready to mingle. From Nick Cage to Morgan Freeman to Robin Williams and Julia Roberts, they were all there ready for their close-ups. My kids were amazed with how life like these wax figures really were.
All around Madame Tussaud’s there were wax facts which were really cool to read to find out just how much work goes into making each figure. I was practically impressed with the fact that each hair is individually inserted onto the head up about 10,000 hairs and it can take up to six weeks for this process to be completed. And that the celebrity’s personal stylist often advises how the hair should be styled to ensure its accuracy.
Our next stop at Madame Tussauds was the newsroom, where we got a chance to anchor the evening news. Then it was off to the room of world leaders, everyone from George Washington to modern-day presidents as well as religious leaders like Pope John Paul, my favorite Pope of all time.
The kids even got to pretend to sign the US Constitution!
We really enjoyed New York gallery. If you weren’t sure you were in Times Square in the Heart of New York City, you’d know by spending time here and being part of all the great sites that it has to offer!
I think our favorite gallery was the Marvel Super Heroes gallery and watching the Marvel 4-D movie-it’s a must see!
We took at least fifty other pictures of sports figures, rock stars, astronauts you name it and they are there waiting for you. I’d like to thank my daughter Kristen for being the official photographer of the trip!
Of course we have a picture with on my favorite Yankees of all time the Captain Derek Jeter!
We really had a fantastic day. You can even make your own wax hand if you are so inclined at a special station. And don’t worry if you want to take a break, there’s a place to eat and a candy bar for a sweet treat too!
